Interim Director of Pharmacy Hospital Leadership
We are seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy to provide interim leadership for a 60-bed hospital pharmacy department in Alaska. This is an excellent opportunity for a current hospital DOP who is open to traveling and stepping into a leadership role with potential for long-term placement.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the pharmacy department
Lead pharmacy personnel and departmental staffing
Ensure regulatory and compliance standards are met
Manage pharmacy budget and financial responsibilities
Oversee purchasing, inventory, and medication management
Support department policies, procedures, and quality initiatives
Provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy staff and hospital leadership
Work Hours
Full-time
Schedule based on department and leadership needs
Start: ASAP
Duration: 13 weeks+
Temp-to-hire preferred; true travelers will also be considered
Experience
Current or recent Director of Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting
Strong pharmacy leadership and management background
Experience overseeing personnel, compliance, budgeting, and purchasing
Hospital pharmacy experience required
Education
PharmD or equivalent pharmacy degree
Active pharmacist license
Other Qualifications
Must be eligible to obtain an Alaska pharmacist license
Alaska does not currently require a pharmacy law examination for licensure
Estimated Alaska licensure timeframe is approximately 3–4 weeks
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to travel and work onsite in Alaska
