An inpatient pharmacy technician role is available at a well-established pediatric hospital campus in Katy, TX. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on delivering expert pharmaceutical care to patients ranging from newborns to adults. The assignment begins in early March and extends for approximately 13 weeks, with a schedule of 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists with preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery of medications appropriate for patient age groups served.
  • Support controlled substances management including procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution.
  • Accurately enter patient data such as diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area to ensure correct medication dosing.
  • Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control standards in sterile product preparation, maintaining annual recertification with a minimum 90% exam score.
  • Verify medication accuracy and handle batch and prescription order entry competently.
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Support Services to maintain medication stock and follow formulary procedures.
  • Obtain necessary pharmacist approvals and correctly assign labels for dilution and expiration.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Texas pharmacy technician license.
  • National certification as a pharmacy technician.
  • Current ACPE IV sterile compounding certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient pharmacy technician experience.
