A veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician with compounding experience to support their high-volume, production-focused operation. This role is contract to hire and offers an immediate start in Hartselle, AL. The pharmacy specializes in primarily non-sterile veterinary compounding with some sterile preparations and ships over 200 prescriptions daily.

Responsibilities include preparing and compounding veterinary medications, primarily non-sterile with some sterile aspects, as well as packaging, labeling, and preparing prescriptions for shipment. The technician will assist pharmacists with daily workflow and production while maintaining compounding equipment, work areas, and documentation according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Attention to detail and adherence to quality assurance standards are essential in this fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and compound veterinary medications, focusing on non-sterile and some sterile products
  • Package, label, and prepare prescriptions for shipment
  • Maintain compounding equipment and workspace per SOPs
  • Support pharmacists with workflow and production demands
  • Ensure accurate documentation and inventory management
  • Uphold quality assurance and procedural standards in a high-volume setting
  • Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Pharmacy Technician registration or certification as required by state regulations
  • Previous compounding pharmacy experience, specifically non-sterile compounding (required)
  • Sterile compounding experience is preferred
  • PTCB certification is preferred but not mandatory
  • Veterinary or animal compounding experience is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs closely
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly and work dependably in a fast-paced production environment
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic with a collaborative, go-above-and-beyond mindset
  • Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday with occasional flexibility based on production needs
