A pharmacy opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist with expertise in long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy environments. This role offers a 15-week contract-to-hire assignment, primarily scheduled during daytime hours, with the potential to transition to direct hire.

Location: Ayden, NC

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Some Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications to patients.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and identify any over-usage patterns.
  • Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal regulations.
  • Verify the appropriateness of prescribed medications for patients.
  • Maintain confidential patient and pharmacy records with precision.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer their inquiries.
  • Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on proper use and handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for internal and external use, including preparation of sterile solutions following set protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
  • Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies effectively.
  • Identify drug-related patient issues and communicate findings to physicians and healthcare teams.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to optimize patient care.
  • Qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
  • Pharmacy experience required; LTC experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to manage staff and interact with healthcare professionals.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
