A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacist to work in a blended environment of Long Term Care and Mail Order pharmacy services. This position is a contract-to-hire role based in Ayden, NC, offering a 15-week engagement with the potential for direct hire.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Some Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and identify patterns of over-usage.
  • Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate and safe for patients.
  • Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation.
  • Educate and advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer inquiries.
  • Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications regarding storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Instruct patients on proper handling of medical devices including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for internal and external use, preparing sterile solutions following established protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure high-quality service and operations.
  • Maintain inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies, ensuring availability.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, interns, and other healthcare team members to resolve drug-related issues.
  • Qualifications:

  • Licensed pharmacist with a valid North Carolina pharmacy license.
  • Prior pharmacy experience required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care highly preferred.
