This opportunity is for an experienced pharmacy professional to serve as Pharmacy Manager at a rehab hospital with 48 staffed beds and an average daily census of 45. The role requires holding the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) license and managing pharmacy staffing while actively working as a pharmacist 40 hours per week. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with potential weekend, after-hours, and on-call duties shared among a substantial PRN pharmacist team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee pharmacy operations and provide leadership to staff, including one full-time and two PRN pharmacy technicians per shift
  • Participate in patient rounds, review medication therapies, adjust dosing (e.g., antibiotics), and collaborate with the care team to optimize patient outcomes
  • Review and verify medication orders entered by physicians and other healthcare providers
  • Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile IV compounding for antibiotics, TPN/nutrition, and other IV therapies (no chemotherapy compounding required)
  • Ensure medication safety through dose accuracy, monitoring for drug interactions, allergy checks, and appropriate therapy selection
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards as Pharmacist in Charge
  • Qualifications:

  • Active Kansas pharmacist license
  • Proven experience as a pharmacy manager in a hospital inpatient or rehab setting
  • Proficiency with IV compounding procedures (excluding chemotherapy)
  • Strong clinical knowledge of medication therapy management and sterile compounding
  • Leadership skills to manage pharmacy staff and coordinate PRN coverage
  • Location: Shawnee, KS
    Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm; weekend/on-call coverage as needed
    Contract Duration: 8+ weeks with the possibility to extend
