A healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Director to lead its inpatient pharmacy operations for a 13-week contract assignment, with the possibility of extension. This role focuses on stabilizing pharmacy operations, providing strong leadership to staff, and ensuring efficient, safe medication delivery within a hospital environment.

The successful candidate will oversee a team comprising 6 pharmacists and 8 pharmacy technicians, fostering accountability and a high standard of practice. This role requires expertise in pharmacy management, inpatient hospital pharmacy workflows, and a working knowledge of sterile compounding. Familiarity with automation systems such as Pyxis and order entry platforms like Cerner is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Manage staffing schedules and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
  • Represent the pharmacy department in meetings and collaborate with facility leadership.
  • Oversee financial aspects related to pharmacy operations.
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding new pharmacy personnel to build a strong team.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Stabilize and improve day-to-day pharmacy operations.
  • Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Michigan pharmacy license.
  • Proven pharmacy management experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
  • General knowledge of sterile compounding processes.
  • Proficiency with Pyxis automation and Cerner order entry systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, daytime hours.
  • Possible weekends and on-call duties as needed.
