Oversee pharmacy operations at a newly established behavioral health facility, providing leadership as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This contract position requires hands-on management in launching and maintaining pharmacy services in a behavioral healthcare setting, ensuring smooth workflows and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Director of Pharmacy and PIC, guiding pharmacy setup and operations in a new behavioral facility
  • Manage pharmacy stocking, including Omnicell automation systems
  • Approve medication orders and ensure timely order entry using HCS (training provided)
  • Lead Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee meetings and contribute to policy development
  • Provide on-call coverage after daily shifts during weekdays; possible weekend on-call support
  • Collaborate with facility leadership to establish pharmacy workflows and standards
  • Operate independently in a pharmacist-only staff environment without technician support
  • Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois pharmacist licensure required
  • Prior inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred, ideally in behavioral health
  • Familiarity with order entry systems, especially HCS, and automated dispensing (Omnicell) a plus
  • Ability to take initiative and establish pharmacy services from the ground up
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Schedule and Location:

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with on-call coverage after shifts
  • Weekend on-call availability may be requested
  • Position located in Peoria, IL (behavioral hospital setting)
  • This contract role offers the opportunity to lead pharmacy operations for a new site, shaping pharmacy services in behavioral healthcare. The assignment is expected to start in late May and extend through July, with possible flexibility on end date.
