An immediate opportunity is available for an experienced Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead operations at a specialty pharmacy site in Cambridge, MA. This contract-to-hire role requires a proactive pharmacist to help launch and grow pharmacy operations alongside a supporting pharmacist. Prior management and infusion pharmacy experience will be essential to establish compliant and efficient workflows in this newer facility.

Location: Onsite in Cambridge, MA
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with weekend on-call rotation
Duration: 13 weeks, with potential extension to 26 weeks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee prescription review, verification, and dispensing activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory bodies including State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, and ACHC
  • Manage and counsel patients receiving specialty and infusion therapies, supporting medication therapy management for complex disease states
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Coordinate with Intake, Referral, Nursing/Clinical, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations teams to support effective specialty medication fulfillment and patient onboarding
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation to uphold quality assurance standards
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide expert support as needed
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required; Connecticut license preferred or willingness to obtain quickly
  • BS or PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or similar pharmacy settings—retail-only backgrounds will not meet requirements
  • Prior specialty pharmacy management or PIC experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of specialty medications, payer requirements, and clinical coordination processes
  • Familiarity with pharmacy system CareTend is a plus
  • Excellent leadership, communication, multitasking, and clinical judgment skills
