Hours: Rotating 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM–9:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join a high-volume, closed-door pharmacy operation in Pittsburgh. This role combines clinical pharmacy responsibilities, patient counseling, prescription verification, and collaboration with prescribers and pharmacy staff.

The schedule will rotate between shifts within the 8:00 AM–9:00 PM operating window. Candidates should be comfortable working a rotating schedule, with specific scheduling details discussed during the interview process.

Job Duties
Provide proactive patient counseling and medication education by phone, including guidance on new prescriptions, refills, side effects, medication adherence, and proper medication use
Collaborate with prescribers and their offices to clarify prescriptions and resolve clinical issues that could delay dispensing
Review and clinically verify new and refill prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, drug interactions, contraindications, and dosing accuracy
Verify filled prescriptions in a high-volume closed-door fulfillment environment, ensuring accuracy of medication, dose, quantity, and labeling prior to dispensing
Assist pharmacy management with receiving, processing, and transferring patient prescriptions
Take ownership of prescription transfers from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and accurate process
Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, providers, and other members of the care team
Requirements
Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist license
0–6+ years of pharmacist experience
New graduates will be considered
Retail, mail-order, specialty, or other high-volume pharmacy experience preferred
Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to counsel patients by phone
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment
Must be comfortable with a rotating schedule between 8:00 AM–9:00 PM, Monday–Friday
