A pharmaceutical role is available for a pharmacist specializing in long-term care and mail order pharmacy services. This opportunity is a 12-week contract with potential to transition to permanent employment, offering evening shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The position requires expertise in managing prescriptions within a long-term care mail order environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accepting and dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitoring patient medication compliance and identifying over-usage patterns.
  • Ensuring medication supply and prescriptions comply with legal and safety standards.
  • Maintaining confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation meticulously.
  • Advising patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and answering related inquiries.
  • Consulting with patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications regarding storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Providing additional patient services, including smoking cessation guidance, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol management.
  • Educating patients on the correct use of medical devices, such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compounding medications for external or internal use and preparing sterile solutions in accordance with protocols.
  • Supervising pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Managing pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
  • Collaborating with physicians and healthcare practitioners to resolve drug-related issues.
  • Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Rhode Island Pharmacy License required.
  • Previous pharmacy experience is a must.
  • Experience in long-term care (LTC) pharmacy is highly preferred.
  • Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, Evenings, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
