A dynamic opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care in a Long-Term Care (LTC) and mail order environment. This role requires flexibility with variable shifts between 8:00 AM and 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with weekend shifts optional. The contract spans 8 weeks, with potential for extension.

Responsibilities include accepting and dispensing prescription medications accurately while monitoring patient medication compliance and usage trends. You will ensure that prescriptions comply with legal standards and are appropriate for patient needs. Maintaining confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision is essential.

You will advise patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and drug interactions, while also counseling on non-prescription drugs. Providing patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol management, and education on medical devices will be part of your role. Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions adhering to established procedures is expected, alongside supervising pharmacy technicians and clerks.

Collaboration across healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related problems, while maintaining adequate pharmaceutical and medical inventory, is critical for success.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
  • Current Massachusetts pharmacy license
  • Experience in pharmacy practice, with LTC experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of medication dispensing and patient counseling
  • Ability to supervise and lead pharmacy support staff effectively
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, shifts vary between 8:00 AM and 12:00 AM
  • Shift start times and lengths vary; weekend shifts optional
  • 8-week contract with potential extension
