Lead the inpatient pharmacy services as Director of Pharmacy, overseeing clinical operations and staff management at a well-established hospital in West Plains, MO. This contract position provides an engagement from early July through early October, with two weeks of onsite training prior to coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), providing expert guidance and support to pharmacy staff.
  • Manage day-to-day inpatient pharmacy operations, including sterile compounding as needed.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules for pharmacists and technicians.
  • Collaborate with the medication buyer to resolve supply chain challenges.
  • Lead Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities—prepare agendas, facilitate meetings, and implement policies.
  • Attend multiple medical staff committee meetings and participate in initiatives such as COPD readmissions reduction.
  • Oversee controlled substances ordering and maintain Pyxis access and payroll management.
  • Conduct daily weekday department huddles and monthly department meetings to ensure effective communication.

    • Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed pharmacist in the state of Missouri with Medication Therapy Services certification.
  • Proven experience in inpatient pharmacy settings.
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system preferred, especially managing drug dictionaries.
  • Ability to manage multiple specialty areas including OB, orthopedics, pediatrics, oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.

    • Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No on-call office hours, but must be a resource for staff queries.

    • Work Environment:

  • Business casual or scrubs of any color or print are acceptable.
