A specialty infusion pharmacy located approximately 20 minutes north of downtown Hartford, CT, seeks an experienced Infusion/Clinical Pharmacist for a 4-week maternity leave contract, with potential extension. This role operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, starting March 13 and ending April 13.

Position Overview: The Clinical Pharmacist ensures safe, compliant, and effective pharmacy operations within specialty pharmacy environments or therapy-specific Centers of Excellence. The role involves clinical oversight, prescription verification, drug therapy monitoring, patient counseling, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to support optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and manage specialty drug therapies, providing clinical intervention recommendations.
  • Offer comprehensive patient counseling on specialty medications.
  • Oversee pharmacy technician activities and documentation accuracy.
  • Maintain compliance with State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, HIPAA, ACHC, URAC, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Intake, Reimbursement, Quality, Nursing, and Pharmacy teams.
  • Support the entire prescription fulfillment process, including referral coordination and patient onboarding.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
  • Maintain licensure, certifications, and continuing education.
  • Qualifications:

  • BS or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted Connecticut Pharmacist license.
  • Strong knowledge of specialty therapies and patient qualification procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • CT license in-hand. Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in Specialty, Infusion, Hospital, Retail, or Mail-Order Pharmacy.
  • Experience collaborating with pharmacy technicians and clinical teams.
  • Familiarity with specialty payer contracts and operational standards.
  • Experience with CareTend software.
  • Certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is a plus.
