Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (No Weekends)
Duration: 8 Weeks (with potential to extend)
A well-established and highly organized long-term care/hospice pharmacy in Oakland is seeking a Staff Pharmacist for an 8-week contract. This facility is known for its clean, efficient environment and strong operational systems, making it a great place to contribute and gain valuable experience.
Responsibilities:
Accurately accept, verify, and dispense prescription medications
Monitor patient medication compliance and usage trends
Ensure medications dispensed are appropriate and legally compliant
Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and pharmacy files
Provide counseling on prescription and over-the-counter medications
Educate patients on medication use, side effects, and device handling (e.g., BP monitors, glucose meters)
Compound internal and external medications; prepare sterile solutions per protocol
Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks
Maintain inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related issues
Requirements:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
Active California Pharmacist License (required)
Experience in long-term care, hospice, or high-volume pharmacy settings is preferred
Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and attention to detail
