A Specialty Certified Pharmacy Technician role is available at a busy outpatient specialty pharmacy in Rockville, MD. This direct hire position offers the opportunity to support patients by improving access to specialty medications through close collaboration with specialty care clinics. The position emphasizes enhancing the patient experience while managing specialty pharmacy workflows in a dynamic, start-up environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete prior authorizations and process pharmacy claims accurately
  • Source financial assistance programs to help patients afford medications
  • Coordinate medication dispensing, packaging, and shipping logistics
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and pharmacists to address questions and facilitate communication
  • Provide billing and administrative support to streamline pharmacy operations
  • Help build and refine workflows and processes in the clinic

    • Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with active registration/licensure in Maryland
  • Prior experience in outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy settings; infusion experience is a strong plus
  • Proficient in specialty medication benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance programs
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn specialty pharmacy software (e.g., Therigy, ScriptMed) and EMR systems such as EPIC or Cerner
  • Knowledge of specialty medication therapies used in autoimmune, endocrinology, oncology, and willingness to learn new therapeutic areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare providers and support of appeals processes
  • Ability to travel 10-15% to client sites as needed
  • A collaborative mindset and professional demeanor essential for working closely with providers and clients
