Interim PIC – Long-Term Acute Care Hospital – Mt. Pleasanton, SC

Are you a skilled hospital pharmacist ready to take on an interim Pharmacy In Charge (PIC) role in a dynamic Long-Term Acute Care Hospital? This is your chance to step into a critical role in a hospital setting where you’ll oversee pharmacy operations, lead a small team, and contribute directly to patient care.

Job Overview:
  • Position Type: Interim, Full-Time
  • Location: Mt. Pleasanton, SC This is an exciting opportunity to work in a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital with 40 staffed beds and an average daily census of 30 patients. As the interim PIC, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy operations, including staffing, medication order review, and ensuring the safe dispensing of medications. You will also be in charge of the medication distribution process and will lead a small pharmacy team that includes yourself and a PRN technician (with a new full-time technician coming on board soon).

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including staffing and scheduling.
  • Supervise and support a small team of pharmacy staff.
  • Manage the medication order review process and ensure safe medication practices.
  • Provide IV compounding as required, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Work with HCS order entry system and MedDispense automation system.
  • Be available for on-call duties outside of regular pharmacy hours. Requirements:
  • South Carolina Pharmacy License is required.
  • Solid hospital pharmacy experience is required. Previous Director of Pharmacy (DOP) experience is not necessary, but strong leadership and pharmacy operations experience are key.
  • IV compounding experience is required.
  • On-call availability is required as part of the role.
  • Familiarity with HCS order entry system and MedDispense automation system is preferred but not mandatory. The pharmacy operates from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on weekends and holidays. On-call coverage is part of the role, and the pharmacy team consists of 1.5 pharmacists and PRN technicians, with a full-time technician joining soon.
