We are currently seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Pharmacist for a critical role at a 50-bed rehabilitation hospital in Sacramento, CA. This is a working Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) position, where the selected candidate will assume full responsibility for overseeing pharmacy operations while also performing regular pharmacist duties. The position requires an ASAP start with a duration of 13 weeks, with the possibility of converting to a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Position Details:

  • Facility: 50-bed rehabilitation hospital
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (with potential to transition to contract-to-hire)
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday, day shifts
  • On-Call: Shared with PRN pharmacists after hours
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: $2, 800+ Gross Weekly 

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently, reviewing physician orders for appropriate medication therapy
  • Monitor patient medication regimens, making recommendations to the healthcare team for drug therapy optimization
  • Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective medication use
  • Manage inventory and ensure adequate medication supplies are available
  • Handle medication-related inquiries from healthcare providers and patients
  • Participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance activities
  • Take on-call responsibilities during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule with PRN pharmacists

    Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active California Pharmacist license required
  • Experience: Hospital pharmacy experience is highly preferred
  • Attitude: Professional, approachable, and committed to patient care
  • Skills: Strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Additional: Must be willing to assume the responsibilities of the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
