A prestigious opportunity is now available for experienced pharmacy technicians with specialized sterile compounding expertise in Los Angeles County. This role offers the chance to utilize advanced technical skills in a state-of-the-art compounding environment focused on chemotherapy and other sterile pharmaceutical preparations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and medication efficacy through precise compounding techniques and rigorous quality control protocols.

Location Details

This position offers opportunities in two prime locations within the greater Los Angeles area:

  • Fountain Valley (Orange County adjacent)
  • Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley)

    Schedule & Duration

  • Shifts available during day and afternoon hours
  • 13-week assignment with potential for extension or conversion to permanent

    Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile compounds including hazardous medications and chemotherapy agents according to USP <797> and <800> guidelines
  • Perform aseptic technique within laminar flow hoods, biological safety cabinets, and clean rooms
  • Verify calculations and measurements for proper drug concentrations and dosages
  • Maintain clean room environment and equipment according to strict protocols
  • Document all compounding activities with precision and accuracy
  • Conduct quality control testing of prepared compounds
  • Manage inventory of compounding supplies and pharmaceuticals
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and facility policies
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain current knowledge of compounding standards and best practices

    Required Qualifications

  • Current California Pharmacy Technician License in good standing
  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience
  • At least 1 year of dedicated sterile compounding experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in chemotherapy compounding techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of USP <797> and <800> standards
  • Experience working in controlled clean room environments
  • Strong mathematical skills for pharmaceutical calculations
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Certification in aseptic technique
  • Documented training in hazardous drug handling

    Additional Skills Required

  • PTCB certification
  • IV certification or demonstrated IV preparation experience
  • Knowledge of automated compounding devices
  • Experience with electronic health record systems
  • Familiarity with medication safety and error prevention protocols
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Demonstrated capability to work in a fast-paced environment
