As a staff pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication use while working closely with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, contraindications, and interactions before dispensing.
  • Provide clinical consultation and communicate with prescribers to recommend and implement optimal drug therapies.
  • Accurately fill and dispense medications while ensuring compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.
  • Educate and counsel patients on medication use, dosage, and expected outcomes.
  • Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) and review patient charts for appropriate medication adjustments.
  • Serve as a trusted drug information resource for healthcare providers, patients, and clinical staff.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure adherence to proper pharmacy protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and medication safety.
  • Assist in medication inventory management to ensure proper selection and availability of formulary drugs.
  • Work within pharmacy-run clinics, contributing to health promotion and disease prevention efforts.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time as needed for training, support, or patient care activities.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Pharm.D. degree and active, unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state.
  • Minimum 3 years of hospital and/or ambulatory clinic pharmacy experience (if licensed prior to 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Must obtain within one year of hire.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacokinetics, drug interactions, and therapeutic decision-making.
  • Ability to independently assess patient medication needs, review lab values, and make clinical recommendations.
  • Proficiency in state and federal pharmacy laws and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment, handling high patient volumes and making quick, sound clinical decisions.
  • Strong skills in patient counseling, provider collaboration, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Advanced knowledge of IV and oral medication dosing, compounding, and sterile preparations.
  • Experience with quality control, pharmacy-run clinics, and healthcare system operations.

    Preferred Experience:

  • Completion of a nationally recognized (ASHP) pharmacy residency program.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management software.
  • Prior experience leading or participating in hospital pharmacy quality improvement programs.
