This contract opportunity calls for an experienced pharmacy leader to serve as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services at a well-established healthcare facility in West Plains, Missouri. The role requires a licensed Missouri pharmacist with Medication Therapy Services certification and a strong background in inpatient pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate will provide expert direction and oversight for a dedicated team, ensuring exceptional pharmacy services in a diverse clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) with full accountability for pharmacy operations
  • Develop and manage pharmacist and technician schedules to optimize coverage and efficiency
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including agenda preparation, meeting facilitation, and implementation of approved initiatives
  • Participate in medical staff and COPD readmissions reduction committee meetings
  • Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles to maintain team communication and performance
  • Manage controlled substance orders twice weekly and oversee Pyxis access and payroll
  • Address staff questions and concerns as a resource, without the requirement for on-call duties
  • Support sterile compounding operations as necessary
  • Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active Missouri pharmacist license and Medication Therapy Services certification
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy leadership experience
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse system, particularly drug dictionary management
  • Ability to work effectively across various specialty areas including OB, orthopedics, pediatrics, oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, and more
  • Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Initial two weeks of onsite training prior to coverage commencement around July 9 through October 1
  • Work Environment:

  • Business casual or scrubs attire welcomed
  • Collaborate with a pharmacy team of 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs
  • Facility preparing for Joint Commission survey in fall 2026
